Why have a blog?

Well, a personal blog is something I have been thinking about for a while now - I have been writing one for work for almost a year and see the potential for sharing things with friends and family in a slightly more sophisticated manner than Facebook allows, yet it does seem rather self indulgent! I set this up a few months ago and have hesitated on writing my first post ever since. Well this is it. Maybe now I am over that I can get on with sharing my life with those of you that I really want to stay in touch with.
