The New "Paying Thing"

A great new arrival in our house in the last couple of weeks is the Paying Thing - aka a Pretend and Play® Calculator Cash Register with UK Money.

Playing shops is one of BB's favourite things. He often sets up a little green grocers store using his fruit and veg play set. Customers go in, and ring the bell and the "vegetable man" comes down the stairs to serve you. He loves to scan and beep your produce, and then hands each item to you saying "there you go!" Once you have got all your shopping you take it home to your "house" in the corner of the lounge and then the vegetable man comes around for tea.

I have lost count of how many times we have played this game. Sometimes you have to pay, but not always. I thought a till would be a good thing to add to the shop and I was so right. The Play Cash Register from Learning Resources is great. It is actually a real calculator as well as a toy till so it will be a great resource for a while to come. There is also a credit card and a slot to scan it in. It is solar powered too so you won't need a battery, and the cash drawer makes a very satisfying ker ching  sound as you open it.

One of the best things about this shop is that the shop keeper gives you the money to pay him with... if only!

He even packs your shopping for you!
As with all the Learning Resources toys we have tried so far, this item is of great quality and I would happily recommend it friends. You can also get one with Euro Currency and in the US there is one available with US Dollars too.
