Stained Glass Window

stained glass window made from contact and tissue paper
The finished product

This is a great little craft activity for a young toddler. All you need is a piece of contact and some scraps of tissue paper. It's fool proof as even if the child tries to put them all on top of each other they wont stick and will only go where there is a space.

BB made his first at about 15 months. He did need me to move the piece of contact for him then as he only tried to stick them on the bit right in front of him, but he has made three now and has got the hang of reaching across to place the pieces elsewhere.

  1. Aw, that looks lovely with the sun shining through.
Do you have PVA glue? If so, get him to coat both sides with PVA and then it'll last through any condensation too. Also you can make a frame for it out of black paper (been a teacher too long - can you tell).

    Well done BB!!!

    1. Actually they fade quite fast anyway so we haven't gone that far. The original plan was to make a frame out of black card too believe it or not, but I decided against it in the end. Partly because I liked it as is, but also because then it would be more my work than his. When he gets bigger I can offer that 'extension activity' to further his skills!

    2. I have just realised that this post is getting lots of traffic, so I thought I would mention, for those who don't know me that my last comment re BB's extension activities is meant to be a little tongue in cheek. I am a former teacher too, and DD is also a teacher. Poor little BB doesn't stand a chance! Lol
